A Healthy Back-to-School Season Starts With Your Savco Pharmacy

During this time of year, you'll notice school supplies lining the shelves, teachers sending out back-to-school announcements, and stores advertising the latest back-to-school fashion. It is not time to prepare for the upcoming school year. While you might have plenty of things on your to-do list, we recommend adding your children's health needs to the top of the list. Your Savco Pharmacy is here to help you and your family maintain your health this school year.

Kids' Health & Wellness

Start the school year with a trip to your Savco Pharmacy for all your medicinal needs this fall. We recommend purchasing the following items for the best health benefits:

  • Multivitamins – The foods we eat often lack essential vitamins and minerals that promote growth and development. Multivitamins are an excellent way to supplement the body's necessary nutrients.

  • Vitamin C – With exposure to germs daily, Vitamin C helps boost your immunity and prevents illness.

  • Elderberry – Available in syrup and kid-friendly gummy form, elderberry helps reduce the duration of colds.

  • First aid kit– Be ready for any scrapes and cuts. Check your first aid kit to see what items need restocked with a trip to your Savco Pharmacy.

  • Probiotics – promote gut health that will help keep the stomach bugs away.

Stop by the pharmacy counter for a recommendation from Savco Pharmacy for more items to add to your back-to-school health and wellness shopping list.

Continued COVID Awareness

There are many new tools to deal with the COVID pandemic. The FDA recently approved Novavax, which uses different vaccination methods than previous COVID vaccines and boosters. Novavax is provided in a two-dose vaccine and has been recommended and authorized only for people 18 and older. Our local Pharmacy will keep you up to date when vaccinations are available for you and your family.

If you need a COVID vaccine or a booster shot, Savco Pharmacy has appointments readily available to get you protected as soon as possible. For customers suffering from COVID-19 symptoms, we have tests in-store and for at-home use. If you test positive, the CDC has provided a Quarantine and Isolation Interactive Tool with the most up-to-date guidelines on masking, isolation, and when it's safe to resume public activities.

August is National Immunization Awareness Month

The CDC has designated the month of August as National Immunization Awareness Month. This image depicts a cartoon bandage.

"This annual observance highlights the importance of getting recommended vaccines throughout your life," states Christina Howerton, Manager/Marketing and New Media at National Health Council.

Because of the pandemic, your children might be behind on necessary vaccinations. Savco Pharmacy is always happy to discuss the CDC Child Vaccine Schedule with you to inform you of the best ways to keep your family safe. Vaccine-preventable diseases include:

  • Meningitis

  • Diphtheria

  • Tetanus

  • Measles

  • Mumps

  • Rubella

While we prioritize adolescent vaccination this season, adults should keep their vaccinations up-to-date. As we head into another flu season, consult your Savco Pharmacy regarding your vaccination status. We understand the pandemic heavily impacts doctors' offices, and many adults have been left without access to vaccines and primary care. Don't wait for an immunization that your Savco Pharmacy pharmacist can administer. Come in today for an adult vaccine consultation!
